Family and Children's Services of Central Maryland

On January 17th and January 18 2019 the Family and Children’s Services Foster Grandparents Program Celebrated #MLKDAY with Baltimore City Veterans at the VA Hopsital on Loch Raven Blvd and at the Green Street VA Hosptial. Both days had a total of 9 volunteers who districbuted gifts to over 140 total veternes who were in care at hosptials on those days. The volunteers were joined on site by Admiral Earl L. Gay, Senior Advisor for Wounded Warrior, Veteran, and Military Family Initiatives, Elizabeth Southall, CNCS State Director and Maigen Lawson, CNCS Program Officer. One powerful moment shared by a FGP Volunteer was that a vetern who was bed ridden asked for the volunteers to stand around his bed and sing his mother’s favorite gospel song. FGP volunteers will be back on Father’s Day to spend more time with our venterans. #FCSmdImpact #FCSmdStaff ... See MoreSee Less

Thanks so much to the members of the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office for supporting Teen Dating Violence Awareness by wearing their orange on Tuesday February 12th. 1 in 3 teens will be impacting by dating violence; roughly 50 % of women and 40% of men historically report their first abusive relationship happened around the age of 15. Bringing awareness to our community will help us have conversations with our teens about healthy relationships and red flags. Want someone from FCS to come talk to your group about teen dating violence? Connect with us at www.fcsmd.org or leave us a note here on FB with how to reach out to your organization! #breakthecycle #loveisrespectIn hopes of creating awareness, the State's Attorney's Office is wearing orange today for February ~ Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. 1 in 3 adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner, a figure that far exceeds rates of other types of youth violence.
