Healthy Families Family Support Specialist
Elaine has her Associates in Communication from Montgomery College and is currently continuing her education at UMUC. Elaine started working as a Case Manager for Family Services in 2013 and then as a Case Manager for EveryMind in 2014 and most recently for Family and Children Services. Elaine has been with FCS since August 2018. In her dual role with the program Healthy Families of America as a Family Support Specialist and Family Assessment Worker. As a Family Assessment Worker, I assess families that would benefit from our program. Elaine learns about the individual families strength’s, challenges, questions and interest by learning about their past experiences and present circumstances. In Elaine’s role as a Family Support Specialist, Elaine provides home visit to families. As a home visitor, Elaine provides in-home visitation services to families with children, prenatal to age 5. My primary focus is on supporting families by providing them child development information, healthy pregnancy information and parenting skill development, including traditional parenting practices. I also provide developmental screenings, make referrals for additional resources, and assist parents (expectant mothers, fathers, grandparents, legal guardians) in setting goals.
