Kyra Whittenburg LCPC
Kyra became licensed shortly after graduating with her Master's Degree in Counseling from McDaniel College. Prior to earning her Masters Degree, she attended Eastern University where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Gender Studies and Human Sexuality. Kyra has experience working in both a clinic and school based setting with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. She has comprehensive knowledge and experience working with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, self harm, and sexual assault/trauma. Her experience also includes working with issues related to LGBTQ, identity, and relationships, including parent-child relationships. Kyra focuses on dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and interpersonal therapy (IPT) techniques based on her client's needs and best interest. Kyra believes in the importance of understanding thoughts and behaviors, and provides therapeutic interventions and tools to help clients overcome cognitive distortions. Her passion has always been mental health and continues to expand her knowledge in all focus areas.
