Trauma Services
Trauma is an emotional experience that can create significant and lasting damage to a person’s mental, physical and emotional growth. With recent study of the brain, the definition of trauma has expanded to include life experiences that take a serious emotional toll on those involved, even if the event did not cause physical damage. Traumatizing experiences that we respond to include:
- Child Sexual Abuse
- Adult Survivors of Childhood Sexual and/or Physical Abuse
- Physical Abuse and/or Neglect of Children
- Domestic Violence
- Intimate Partner Violence
- Sexual Assault
The goal of the programs in our Trauma Services division is to create or enhance SHARE (Safety, Hope, Advocacy, Resilience, and Empowerment) for all clients. These programs provide therapeutic services, crisis intervention, case management, and advocacy. Through partnerships with many community agencies and the use of evidence-based practices, FCS is recognized as a leader in the field of trauma treatment services throughout Central Maryland.
