Park Heights Family Support Center
The Park Heights Family Support Center is a child-centered, family-focused program that helps young parents and their children from birth up to four years of age through parenting education, child development activities, GED preparation, job readiness training and links to resources. Programming is designed to stabilize low-income families and increase their chances for success, thereby strengthening their communities.
The center helps young adults become better parents; encourages full and healthy development of children from birth up to age four; and promotes self-sufficiency of unemployed adults through education and training. A secondary goal is to reduce the incidence of additional pregnancies among young parents and first pregnancies among other adolescents in the community. Services offered at PHFSC include pre-GED and GED classroom instruction as well as training for computer proficiency, parenting and life skills. While parents learn, child development specialists work with infants and children to monitor and encourage healthy development.
